NOLA Broadband

FAQs

Answers to our most frequently asked questions.

How does NOLA Broadband provide service?

NOLA Broadband is a hybrid ISP providing both wireless (WISP) service and fiber service. Fiber can take months to install due to permitting with the city and parish, whereas wireless can be rolled out much quicker, so we often try to service fiber customers with wireless as an intermediate step.

What is wireless internet?

Wireless internet is similar to other providers, but instead of coax or copper we use long-range radios. Data hits our tower, then rides our carrier-grade fiber backbone out to the internet.

What is a WISP?

A WISP is a Wireless Internet Service Provider. Some ISPs use cable or phone lines; we deliver over the air, which often means more options and lower cost to deploy.

How do I set up an account?

Call (504) 208-5432, use the contact form, or check coverage on our coverage page. We’ll check eligibility, then schedule a site survey before install. Mail: P.O. Box 3466, Harvey, LA 70059.

What do you need from me?

The service address, plus a credit/debit card or a voided check for ACH payments.

Do I need to buy equipment?

Usually we provide the wireless radio at no cost. It stays our property; please don’t tamper with it. Some business installs require customer-purchased radios depending on service level. Optional mesh nodes are $50.

What is a site survey?

A visit to measure signal quality. You might be in range, but trees or buildings can affect the path. Don’t self-exclude. We’ve completed installs where the tower isn’t even visible.

What is the install like?

For wireless, we mount an antenna (typically on the roof), run Ethernet inside to your router, and finish in about 2-3 hours. Someone 18+ must be home. Custom mounts cost extra. Ask us about fiber install details for your site.

How much is the setup fee?

Wireless installs start at $150 and vary with mount difficulty. Non-penetration mounts or higher-gain equipment can increase the fee. We’ll quote after the survey. Lit Falstaff fiber installs are $0 on the published labels.

How long until I’m online?

We aim for within 7 business days, subject to equipment and weather.

Will my current router work?

It may, but we prefer ours so we can troubleshoot remotely. Smart routers let you change Wi‑Fi credentials from your phone and set device schedules.

How fast will my internet be?

Your plan tier plus distance and line of sight to the tower (or fiber availability). The site survey and Broadband Facts labels set expectations.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Not for residential. We’re happy month to month. Some business options offer multi-year incentives.

How do I get support?

The network is monitored 24/7. Residential support is available at (504) 208-5432 during business hours or via the customer portal. Business support is 24/7. Check status.nolabroadband.com for outages and maintenance.
